I am going
to write about Tuğçe Nur Çakal’s Reflection Task 2a. The paragraph that she
wrote is about benefits and harm of technology. I liked it very much because
this paragraph reflects the facts. She explained the benefits and harm of the
technology very well by giving very good examples. When we do not use
technology properly, it affects our relationships in a bad way. However; when
we use it properly, it is very useful. I think there is not any outstanding mistake
in terms of grammar. She expressed her
opinions very well.

I am going
to write about Tuğçe Nur Çakal’s Reflection Task 3. She is a jury member of the
committee choosing the person of the year and she explains why she wants to
choose Lady Gaga. It is a little bit long writing but it is not boring. She
says Lady Gaga did not make much contribution to music world but she made a lot
of contribution to society and world. I liked the way she explains Lady Gaga’s
contribution to society and world. Her grammar is good and sentences are good.
I cannot see any outstanding mistake. I liked her paragraph. It is nice.

Reflection Task 2b
I would like to write about a German film called "The Lives of Others". This film is set in communist East Germany, shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall. At that time, the Stasi, the East German secret police, used to spy on all kinds of people. The two main characters in the film are a playwright called Dreyman and a Stasi spy called Weisler, whose job it is to keep Dreyman under 24 hour surveillance. Weisler is supposed to be reporting back to his superiors at the Stasi in order to discredit the playwright. However, he develops a strong sympathy for the playwright and his girlfriend, and determines to protect them by not reporting anything significant. The scenes in the film where it cuts from the colourful and interesting lives of Dreyman and his friends to the lonely attic where Weisler is sitting really show the contrast between the two men. The film is shot in such a way that it makes you believe you are also spying on Dreyman, it even made me feel a bit guilty!
I like this film because it has fascinating, 3-dimensional characters, and also the plot has plenty of twists. Right up until the end of the film, we are left guessing how it could possibly end. It is also very thought-provoking because it makes you wonder how many people working for the Stasi actually did protect the people they were spying on.
As for the message it gives, I would say the main message is that we can find kindness and humanity in the most unexpected of places. The film makes us realise that nothing is ever black and white! The film also serves as a warning about the dangers of an oppressive, paranoid regime and is perhaps quite pertinent in this current age of mass surveillance.

Reflection Task 2a
In our society today, there are many health issues.
People are choosing fast food more, since there are so many fast food
restaurants. People aren't even thinking about what food they put in their
mouthes. Everybody needs to realize that the more fat and cholesterol they put
into their bodies, the slower their heart will beat, and that will lead to
shorter lives. Some people realize they are unhealthy and set their minds to
eat healthier, but the fats and cholesterol in the food is sucking them back
in.
One solution, would be to offer a bigger variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and meats that aren't very red. This would help because if there was a bigger variety of all those healthy foods, and less junk food, then families would start eating right because there wouldn't be enough junk.
Another idea would be to put a chart of the food pramid and also have health articles in the newspaper about how bad junk food is affecting people and all the healthier foods we could be eating. Alot of people read the newspaper and that would help out alot. Also, health charts could be in stores on some of the walls to know what to buy to become healthier.
Another idea, would be to replace some of the fast food restaurants with restaurants that serve salads and healthy subs. I do have to admit that people don't always have time to go home and get something healthy to eat, so they go to McDonald's and Burger King. And, have you ever noticed that if you take out the "s" in fast, it becomes fat food. Having junk food is bad for you but having, maybe, once every two weeks, then that would be ok because you wouldn't be having a lot of it.
I'm sure that not many people see health issues in food like I do. But, it is a big issue. We don't have to ban "fat foods", but we can at least limit them, making for a healthier diet. That way, everyone will have a long, happy and healthy life.

Reflection Task 3
I think
the person of the year should be Rihanna because Rihanna is a huge pop star all
over the world and has been for over 13 years. Rihanna is a pop star because of
her unique voice and fabulous songs. However, this is not the only reason. She
has made so many number 1 hits, she has the most liked page on facebook,
millions of Youtube views on nearly all of her videos. Also, she is famous
because she knows which music genre suits her voice, she knows how to sing to
suit her voice, she knows how to write an excellent song and finally, she knows
which of her songs will make it to number 1 and which will not. These are the
main characteristics of being a pop star, and Rihanna has ticked all the boxes,
in my eyes. In 2003, at the age of 15, Rihanna got a big break when one of her
friends introduced her to a music producer known as Evan Rogers, who was on
holiday in Barbados with his wife. Evan, along with his work partner, Carl
Sturken, helped Rihanna record songs in America. These songs were then sent to
various recording companies. One song that Rihanna had recorded was sent to
Jay-Z, a famous rapper, who eventually signed her to Def Jam Records. After
Jay-Z heard her sing, he was extremely convinced that she had great potential
and could become extremely successful in the music industry. Today, Rihanna is
one of the most famous singers in the world and is known by nicknames such as
RiRi, Caribbean Queen and The Barbados Babe. Rihanna changed the world by
singing what she wanted and what was going on in her head. She also became a
huge teenage idol because of her singing and fashion and what she did for
charities, for example, she donated money to children all over the world and
she helped the unprivileged. I think Rihanna changed the world for the better.

My Favourite Movie
My favorite
movie is "A Walk To Remember". This is my favorite movie because it
deals with real life issues, like some of the most important things in life
such as: love, relationships, and most important, who your real friends are.
"A Walk To Remember is about a girl named Jamie (Mandy Moore) who is the
daughter of a minister who becomes ill. During high school Jamie doesn't have
very many friends but is in a lot of activities and through that she meets a
reckless boy named Landon. Landon got into some trouble which made the
principal force him into being in a play for the drama club. Landon Played a
lead role as did Jamie, even though they didn't hang out in the same crowd of
friends when Landon needed help with his lines in the play he turned to Jamie
to help him out. One of the first things she told Landon was for him to promise
that he wouldn't fall in love with her. But that is a promise that he did not
keep. Jamie finally told Landon that she had cancer and the treatment stopped
working so she didn't have very much time to live. Jamie had this list of
accomplishments that she wanted to make before she passed. The number one thing
was to get married at the same church that her mother and father was married
in. Landon made all of her dreams come true. But unfortunatelly her cancer
became worse and she died. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes
heart touching stories, I liked it and would watch it a million times a day if
I could.
